Aga Khan Development Network was created by the Aga Khan, whose main focus is to improve the quality of life of the people. Further organizations have been created within this organizational network, in which the Aga Khan Foundation is a part.

Aga Khan Foundation Portugal was established in 1983, since that this organization works again and again to bring a good change in the lives of the people. Its main objective is to work to improve the lives of migrant communities. Aga Khan Foundation Portugal is known as Fundação Aga Khan in Portuguese, which was established in the form of an organization in 1996. People were touched directly and indirectly through 264 sponsored civil society organizations, 48% of which were women. This demonstrates that a total of 264 civil society organizations (CSOs) received support (most likely through funding, training, or other resources). These CSOs collaborated with or assisted numerous people in the community. Some of these persons received direct assistance (such as training, legal aid, and healthcare). Others received assistance indirectly. Women accounted for 48% of all those reached (directly and indirectly).

Children received education services and support at 112 schools and learning venues. To create safe, inclusive, and nurturing environments that encourage academic success, emotional well-being, and long-term development.

People supported by work and enterprise programs, 58% of whom have improved employment or self-employment status. Work and enterprise programs helped people gain skills, obtain jobs, and start their enterprises.  As a result, 58% of them found better jobs or started their businesses.
