Conditions for Applying for a Visa

There are basic requirements to apply for a digital nomad visa. Applicants who work remotely for a company outside Portugal. One of the essential requirements is to show a good and stable income of more than 3000 euros. It’s four times the minimum wage of Portuguese employees. They earn from their remote work. Other major documents are health insurance, proof of residence in Portugal with a good record.

Eligibility Criteria for Digital Nomad Visa

• Passport

Visa Application Fee

The cost of a visa depends on the type of visa you are applying for.

If you are applying for a long-stay visa, which is valid for two years of residency. It would be a 90 euros maximum fee and, if you are applying for the temporary or the short stay, it costs 75 euros.

Portugal Tax on Digital Nomad Visa

The amount of tax you pay as a digital nomad in Portugal depends on your income level. High-income earners are taxed at a rate of 48%. If you stay in the country for less than 183 days, you will be subject to a temporary tax rate of 25% on your earnings. Many people have concerns about their first year in Portugal, but it’s important to note that the same tax rules will apply to them later on.
